Code Savvy Connections

Updated: Mar 9, 2022

The Latest From Code Savvy

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math - STEM - It’s an acronym you hear and see everywhere… and within each of those disciplines, you will find argument about which one is the most important, what differentiates each discipline, and how it should really always be STEAM, because art is such an important part of the equation.

Since it’s Engineers Week, our content has been focused on engineering, and mostly engineering in tech, because that is where we tend to focus our energy as an organization. But the truth is, we need all of these disciplines, the entire STEAM family, if you will, working together… They are reliant on each other. They borrow from each other, share with each other, and empower each other to innovate, build, and “Reimagine the Possible.”

So even though our focus as an organization is on being “Code Savvy,” that means so much more than just being techy. It’s about using computational thinking, logic, reasoning, creativity, and innovation to solve problems. Thank you all for being a part of our awesome STEAM community.

This Week’s Spotlight and Project-Inspiration Theme: Engineers Week - Reimagining the Possible

This week we celebrate Engineers Week (February 20-26, 2022)! The focus of this week is to celebrate the impact engineers have on society and engage students in engineering. This year's theme is, Reimagining the Possible, a focus on what new possibilities engineers can create and how we can inspire the next generation of engineers to turn their dreams into reality.

Try using this Pixel Art Activity using Google Sheets to create something new. This activity combines ‘Pixel Art’ which is the making of images out of a small grid with a limited number of colors and computer science. Follow the link to get your own 26-Pixel Art Template to use and a set of instructions. The activity can be used in many different ways from art, mapping, tech skills, and more! How can you use the theme, Reimagine the Possible, to create something innovative that could inspire others?
