Code Savvy Connections

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

The Latest From Code Savvy - Mentors are the Key to our Success

2023 is off to a great start! We just kicked off this year’s Technovation challenge last weekend, we have our first Rebecca Code Explorer session of 2023 coming up this weekend, as well as our next MNCodes cohort for educators.

A common thread between our programs is our use of mentoring. In fact, as this year rolls out, we will be introducing some new opportunities for our program participants to get specialized, one-to-one career mentoring from industry leaders throughout Minnesota.

Our Code Savvy mentors are the people who show up and lead by example, giving the people in our community the encouragement and space they need to explore and learn new technologies to reach new heights.

So this month, we say THANK YOU to our incredible Code Savvy mentors!

This Week’s Spotlight and Project-Inspiration Theme: National Mentoring Month

The entirety of January is Mentoring Appreciation Month! This includes Dr. MLK Day of Service on January 16th, International Mentoring Day on January 17th, and Thank Your Mentor Day on January 21st. Every January, we celebrate all the amazing mentors who give their time, guidance, and much more! We especially want to give a shoutout to all the great mentors that have worked with Code Savvy through our programs like Rebecca Code Explorers, Code Explorers, and Technovation[MN].

If you would like to volunteer to be a mentor for the above or any of our upcoming Code Savvy programs, please complete this form!

MENTOR started this yearly celebration, an organization whose mission is to "drive equity and close the mentoring gap through quality mentoring relationships for young people." Check out their website to learn more about mentoring opportunities and mentoring toolkits!

For this week's project inspiration, think about the mentors that have aided and inspired you. Could you try creating a project based on your favorite thing they taught you? Or you could create a profile on your favorite mentor and why. Whatever you decide, make sure to thank and celebrate all the mentors in your life!
